# 0. Confirm eligibility
In order to be able to register to vote in California, you must be: a United States citizen, a California resident, at least 18 years old on election day, not be currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony crime, and not be currently be barred from voting by a court.
# 1. Register, pre-register, or re-register to vote
California's Secretary of State maintains an online tool that allows eligible residents to manage their voter registration status. On the registration form, you may wish to list your institution's mailroom as your 'mailing address.'
